Samsung Enhances TV Security with FIPS 140-3 Certification

 

Samsung has just announced its proprietary encryption module - Samsung CryptoCore, which hasis honored to receive the prestigious FIPS 140-3 certification from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

This certification affirms Samsung's commitment - the world's No. 1 TV brand - to providing leading security and optimal data protection for smart TV users.

“As home entertainment systems become increasingly connected, protecting personal data is key to ensuring the seamless connectivity that many users enjoy,” said Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

From 2025, Samsung CryptoCore will be fully integrated into Tizen OS, the foundation of Samsung smart TVs, including AI TVs such as Neo QLED, OLED and other models, to enhance the security of flagship products such as TVs, displays and digital signage. With CryptoCore embedded in Tizen OS, personal data associated with Samsung accounts will be securely encrypted, SmartThings credentials will be protected from cyber threats, and content viewed on TV will be protected from copyright at a higher level than ever before.

Since 2015, Samsung has equipped its smart TVs with Samsung Knox, a security platform that has been continuously certified by Common Criteria (CC) for 10 consecutive years. With the newly achieved FIPS 140-3 certification, Samsung continues to enhance security, strengthen its ability to resist cyber attacks and data leaks, and proactively protect users' personal information through advanced encryption technology.

Recognized by governments in 10 countries, FIPS 140-3 certification requires comprehensive testing of cryptographic modules to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and reliability. For consumers, this means that Samsung Smart TVs offer advanced security against privacy threats, allowing them to enjoy content, connect smart devices, and experience IoT services safely and securely.
