Experience with the Cooler Master Storm game controller: Comfortable grip, battery life up to 40 hours, but there's one unfortunate drawback.
This is a good gaming solution for Windows, Mac computers, or mobile devices like Android, iOS, iPad, but it will be difficult to use with PS5!
Mouse and keyboard are considered the most optimal accessories for gaming, but there are still gamers who highly value the experience of playing with a controller, similar to console gaming. That's why gaming brands continue to release new controllers, including Cooler Master with the Storm Controller we have here.
The controller is packaged in a small cardboard box and is quite attractively decorated.
Inside the box, besides the controller, we have a user manual and a USB-C to USB-A cable.
This controller comes in two color versions: Black - Purple and White - Purple, which we have here. This color scheme reminds me of the character Frieza from the Dragon Ball series!
In terms of design, the Cooler Master Storm has a shape closer to the Xbox controller than the PlayStation 5 - slightly rounded and 'chubby'. This design feels comfortable to hold, with curves that support the entire hand.
The joystick is raised above the surface of the controller, with the 'stick' decorated in purple and the contact surface wrapped in white rubber to prevent slipping.
The system of four trigger buttons is also covered with a surface called "Halo Texture," making it easy to find and press without worrying about slipping.
One concern with this white version is that it may get dirty or even yellow over time. However, the textured surface makes it easy to clean, not as prone to dirt as glossy plastic.
Compared directly to the PlayStation 5 controller, as mentioned above, the Storm Controller has a rounder shape, with more curved hand contact points. The L2 and R2 buttons (the top outer buttons) on the Storm Controller are placed lower, not as protruding as the PS5's, but thanks to the textured surface, they are not easily pressed by mistake.
One advantage of the Storm Controller is that it is quite light! The PlayStation 5 controller weighs 285.9g, while the Storm Controller is only 221.8g, making it more comfortable for long-term use.
On the downside, this controller only connects wirelessly via Bluetooth and does not have a 2.4GHz dongle, so it is suitable for devices like Windows laptops, MacOS, or mobile devices running iOS, iPadOS, and Android but cannot connect to the PlayStation 5. Of course, you can still connect it via a USB-C cable, but this would be inconvenient and limit movement while playing.
The Cooler Master Storm Controller is priced around $30
