Apple Vision Pro 2: Powerful upgrade with M5 chip, expected to launch late 2025 - early 2026
Apple plans to upgrade the Vision Pro 2 from the M2 chip to the upcoming M5 chip, bringing significant performance gains
According to Bloomberg's latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman said that the second-generation Apple Vision Pro is expected to hit the market between fall 2025 and spring 2026. This prediction is largely consistent with previous reports, although it is a bit less optimistic. Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported last week that Apple has seriously delayed the launch of a cheaper version of Apple Vision. Instead, the "bitten Apple" will focus on the second-generation Apple Vision Pro, expected to launch next year.
In terms of design, Bloomberg says the Apple Vision Pro 2 will likely look similar to the current generation: "Apple is working on a number of ideas for its Vision glasses, but at least one version of the second-generation Vision Pro — assuming it is released — will look almost identical to the current design. The big changes are on the inside, including a processor upgrade."
Apple’s decision to scrap plans for a cheaper hardware product makes it clear that the company will need to focus on compelling software features to keep the Apple Vision Pro relevant in the market. A prime example is Apple’s recent release of new Wide and Ultra Wide screen options for Mac Virtual Display in visionOS 2.2, a feature that many users have appreciated.
